Presidents Report

April, 2008

What you see in April is plant life starting out of the ground and longer daylight hours. Schoolies are becoming active and tackle shops are opening longer hours.
What we don’t see in the MBBA is all the work going on this time of year, handbooks being put together and conservation projects most every weekend until the middle of May.
The Providence Show will wind things up as far as setting up the club booth and manning it until next year and Fall Banquet is already in the works.
The MBBA took part in a cleanup at Plum Island Wildlife Refuge on March 29th; this was the first time on the beach this early since the early 90’s. A large dumpster was filled with trash by a small amount of vehicles and people ready to work. The cold and wind were fought to get the job done.
The price of fuel has caused me to do more calling ahead when looking for items in stores and combining a couple of trips into one. The projects are getting going now and the need to supply people for them will put a demand on the fuel budget, ask someone to ride with You if you are not staying overnight at the project.
One idea in the “pipeline “and I don’t mean the oil pipeline, a raffle for a fuel card. Attend a certain number of projects and earn tickets for the raffle, which will be drawn at Spring Meet.
Organizations from around our communities are asking to post announcements on the MBBA website and we are posting them as a courtesy, which is being well received from those organizations. MBBA has conflicting dates with some of the activities posted, but we will continue to help them out.
For Access and Conservation Thank You George Cairns MBBA President
